crafty, crafty

so I always find the best stuff at marshalls. the home decor section is a great place to buy funky-antique-looking items on the cheap. my last trip rewarded me with three beautiful frames, two of which are a dusty blue color and the other an antique white. they all have a very nice country-chic feal to them. the two blue ones I made up information for the candy and quest book table. all designed by me, which is one of my favorite parts, designing elements myself. for the white frame I feel it would look wonderful with a picture of us in on the guest book table. I may need to go back and get some more frames to fill with pictures and scatter on tables.

I also spent all morning stamping the bags for the treats. I am officially over halfway done, and just need to do a few more packages. this part is going surprisingly fast. I also am spray painting a small wooden crate the antique white to hold the cards brought to the wedding. being as we will be outdoors, I needed to put them into something so they don't fly away, and a bird cage was not high on my want list. I purchased some pretty letters to adhere to the side, but am not sure if I should put our names on it, or cards... desicisions!!!

makin a list, and checkin it twice

if you know me, you know I make lists every single day, and sometimes I make them more then once. I then check things off that I have completed or I memorize the things I need to do. I am doing tons of things.

so here is an update on all the stuff I have currently purchased and am working on. I bought the program paper, it is monogramed with a pair of linked hearts and I am working on writing the information for those. I am even playing around with a monogram that has our initials and names and the wedding date.

I purchased 16 of the small square 4x4 frames to hold the table names. and yes, we are having table names instead of numbers. my fiance and I came up with all the names based on places we grew up, our pets and places we have traveled together. the fun part is that a lot of people will be placed at a table that the name has a meaning to them too. I also bought six different fat quarters of black and white calico print fabric and the decopoge paste to adhere the fabric to the frames. currently I am spray painting all the frames antique white.

also purchased three paper mache letters, a large A and a small a and a small m. they are going to receive a coating of antique white spray paint and be hung above the head table on the barn wall. speaking of tables, I think only my fiance and I will be at the head table, with the bridal party having their own. too many of our party member's significant others will not really know anyone, and the idea of an "us" table sounds kinda fun.

four of the five candy jars have been purchased, I just need to find one more. I have also decided on having light blue paper bags that I will stamp to be on the table for guests to fill.

for the guest book table I have a vase (already owned it) that I am pretty sure will look just amazing filled with white carnations. I bought the guest book, but my fiance will be covering it with leather and / or cow hide and possible monograming it with our names. it makes me happy to see him involved.

some of the next things I need to purchase are ribbon, tons and tons of ribbon. tule to run down the chairs marking off the aisle. containers for the center pieces and a few other things. a lot is coming together very quickly.

I have officially decided this is a lot of fun, and am enjoying every minute of being a crafty-country-do-it-herself-bride.

picture perfect

I sure hope I will be as pretty in my pictures as the other women my photographer has photographed. yes I have booked my photographer and am possibly more excited about this then the wedding. having amazing pictures of my wedding is very important to me, and I have no doubt that they will be. sometime in august my fiance and I will head down to the ventura area to meet with her for what will be an amazing engagement session. her is just a sample of the amazing work that she does. I can not beleive how excited I am. I am already thinking of ideas, and how I am going to go get my makeup done that morning so I can look as hot as possible. I should probabaly start running too so I can tone up maybe a little? Yeah, just a little.

As a side note, I did more shopping today. Workin the craft store coupon deals and spreading it all out so I can use as many coupons as possible. Buying stuff for the wedding is a lot of fun, and I really think it is all coming together very well. Once I start actually crafting, I will post pictures of all the fun stuff I have made.

So if you have a minute, or an hour, go to http://www.photographybycharise.com/ and check out her portfolio and blog, and hopefully my shots will be in there soon!!!

in the mail

Well, not quite yet. These are not the invitations I chose, but they are pretty darn cute. I chose a different design, I'll post them after they are sent, so as to not ruin the surprise for all of you invited to the wedding. Anyways, these save the dates, invitations and all the fixins are from MAGNETSTREET.COM and I just love their items. You send in your own photos for everything, can customize the colors and the fonts. You pick the exact wording and can proof everything. And everything coordinates together. For such a great price, I am proud to use them for my save the dates, invitations and thank you cards. So that is my little blip and promotion for this vendor. ENJOY!!!

frame it

I actually bought something else for the wedding today. I spent a grand total of 17.44 on the picture frames to hold the table names. Yes, I went to the Dollar Store. Best place for stuff like this, ask one of my bridesmaids (wink-wink). I bought sixteen frames, similar in size to this one. And I have to admit I really like how they covered this one in a calico fabric. I feel an idea coming along. Black and white calico print fabrics on the frames, what do you think mom???*

My center pieces won't look like this, but the mason jars are pretty cute. We are doing galvinized buckets with potted plants. I plan on tying some black sheer and blue and white gingham ribbon.

For the table linens, I am leaning towards the white, but other's have said the light blue. I do agree that the place settings would look better on blue tables. So many descisions. Blue, white, blue, white... Ahhhh!!! We'll decide on that later on I guess.

you're invited!

not exactly, but shopping for wedding invitations is such a pain. I know it is just the invitation, and most people will file it away in a drawer for a few years before tossing it during a random spring cleaning.* but, I do want them to look good. and good has a price, let me tell you. I am still waiting on receiving a few samples that I ordered but am looking for more. I think I have spent more time looking for invitations then I did trying on wedding dresses. oh well. as soon as the samples come I need to make a decision. I want to start addressing them as soon as possible. I do not want to have a huge to do list once I am back in class. it would be great if I had them all addressed (going to buy the clear printable lables from an office supply store, cause my handwriting sucks, and my fiance's makes mine look good) and sitting in a box waiting the day for them to all be mailed. Iam even looking into getting custom stamps, you can get some pretty cute ones for next to cost.
so for now I have to sit and wait for my samples to arrive. in the mean time, I am going to continue to look for others and update my address book.

*except my mom, she will have it framed and mounted on the wall or put into a scrapbook.

kick up your heels

I do not like to wear high heels, but I love to wear boots. I am getting married outside, in the grass and elements on un even ground. that last thing that I need is to fall face first onto the ground because my white wedding shoes sunk into the grass and i trip over my dress and my whol family sees my pretty lue wedding panties. so i am wearing cowboy boots under my wedding dress*. in fact all of my bridesmaids will be wearing cowboy boots and all of the groomsmen will be too. if you happen to be coming to my wedding, please feel free to wear your cowboy boots.

this is just one of the pairs I am looking at purchasing. I want them to have blue shafts to be my "something blue" for the wedding. someone asked me if I would be able to wear my wedding boots after the wedding. it is a little hard to keep me out of a good pair of boots, but I plan on saving them as my nice pair for going out and formal occasions. I promise not to wear my wedding boots to the barn.

* can you see there the name of the blog came from now???

wedding dress: check!!!

I picked out and bought my wedding dress. I am so excited. I tried on quite a few, on three different days from three different bridal shops, and i finally found the dress for me. the sales lady was wonderful and as I was trying on dresses I would tell her what I liked and did not like about each one. she finally pulled out the one for me. it took my breath away when I saw myself. ashley (bridesmaid) and tasha almost cried. the sales lady almost cried. I was so happy. I don't want to give it away, but it is by Casablanca Bridal and is white. all you really need to know for now. I did not even have to think about it, and paid my deposit that very day. now all I have to do is make a phone call to my dad and take care of the money matters of my wedding.

this is actually a big step. it is the first drop of money that I have paid towards the wedding. I have been very lucky in not needing to book my reception and ceremony site as it is a family friend's ranch. so paying the deposit on my dress has motivated me to start booking more items. next on my list is the photographer, because I have already decided on who that will be.

flowers, flowers everywhere...

“love is the only flower that grows and blossoms without the aid of the seasons.” ahh, how sweet. now if i could only find a website with poems that made choosing the flowers for my wedding easier. but i may have found a solution to what i want. i want carnation kissing balls. yea!!! now before you freak out and say ewww, carnations, when groupled together i think they are very striking. besides that, they are in season all year round and on the cheap end of cut flowers, so it is almost too perfect that i use them in my wedding.
i am thinking white ones for the brides maids, and white with maybe purple for me. do they make purple carnations? i hope so. we can hold them with light blue satin or gingham ribbon. oh yeah, they do have purple carnations, i just found some. now hopefully the florist i am working with can do what i have in my head. at home depot they even have a black iron flower pot holder, that holds four hanging baskets, and i think it would be great to hang our bouquets from it at the reception.
